About The Company
Grupo Mexico is a transnational mining company with operations in the U.S., Mexico and Peru. ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company), the U.S. based subsidiary of Grupo Mexico, is an integrated copper mining, smelting and refining company with approximately 1,700 employees. The company operates three mines, associated mills and smelter in Arizona and a refinery complex in Texas, which includes plants that produce copper cathode & rod.
About the Role

The Ray Copper Mine has recently implemented an Autonomous Haulage Fleet and is in the process of ramping up performance. The Business Improvement Intern will work with on-site operations teams to deliver sustainable value by developing continuous improvement opportunities and initiatives.

 

Objectives

 

Work with operating teams to identify, quantify and execute business improvement initiatives that deliver quantifiable business impacts in a sustainable manner.

Perform Validation analysis

Perform field studies and data driven analyses to prioritize areas of focus and measure key performance metrics and benefits. This role will leverage continuous improvement frameworks to identify and implement key initiatives that will support the operations mandate to enhance efficiencies and reduced losses to drive our business competitiveness. Leveraging technical expertise, technology and data analytics to identify, map and analyze production processes to remove waste and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, or Science.

• Previous experience or exposure to continuous improvement preferred, but not required.

• Desire to learn and apply continuous improvement principles.

• Strong interpersonal communication, written and verbal skills.

• Ability to work in a team environment and work effectively across all levels of the business.

• Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
