About the Role

We work onsite 4+ days a week, with our team based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and Juneau, Wisconsin. Our team of 700+ passionate pet people thrives on collaboration, innovation, and the occasional office cameo from a four-legged friend.


What You’ll Do:

The Electrical Engineer intern will assist in SOC and MCU design based products that include but are not limited to: high-speed digital interfaces (LCD, digital Camera, etc), Bluetooth, WiFi, system level integration, analog power systems including SMPS, illumination, user interface, sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity, hall effect, magnetometer), sensors and motors. The intern will work with the electrical team on existing and upcoming connected pet care products. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates on electrical circuits and systems from concept to product:
    • schematic design & Layout
    • prototype build
  • Assists with sensor identification and evaluation
  • Performs digital and analog hardware verification in the lab and writing test reports
  • Attends project status meetings
  • Will perform additional responsibilities when required

Requirements

What You’ll Bring:

  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering; having completed first year 
  • Ability to work onsite in our Auburn Hills office, Monday - Friday, 9am -5pm 
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
  • High degree of initiative, self-motivation and ability to motivate others
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleagues
  • Lab Equipment experience (multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering irons, etc)
  • Comfortable around office pets (cats, dogs)

Not Required but Nice to Have!

  • C programming experience
  • Experience with embedded programming
  • Previous experience with IOT devices or projects
  • Experience with WIFI/BLE devices 
  • Able to layout a basic PCB 
  • Basic understanding of mechanical concepts
  • Able to use hand tools and machining of prototypes
