About the Role

Job Summary/Overview

The Intern will assist the corporate tax department with tax compliance and projects.  This role is intended for students that want to work part-time to gain experience while pursuing a degree in an accounting related field.  The Intern will be based out of our Getzville, NY location with the opportunity for a partially remote schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of state and local sales and use tax returns, property tax filings, and annual reports. 
  • Support federal and state income tax return filing efforts. 
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations and journal entries. 
  • Assist with resolution of tax notices. 
  • Complete tax research, tax projects and other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Strong computer and data analysis skills.  Proficient with Excel.   

  • Experience with tax research tools and tax preparation software would be a plus. 

  • Detail oriented with ability to effectively take direction. 

  • Confident, effective verbal and written communicator. 

  • Enthusiastic attitude. 

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work 15+ hours a week 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics or similar field 

Compensation

$20 per hour

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in incentive plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
