Job Description

As a GIS student intern with our Applied Technology team, you will perform meaningful, hands-on, real-world work that will transform your classroom experience and help you envision your future career. You’ll get an introduction to Olsson's culture that will help you evaluate our firm as a career choice and be part of a team working with a variety of programs, including but not limited to Esri and Autodesk products. You will work with technology experts to support internal GIS users by compiling data from external sources and assisting with GIS processes. Candidates will bring attention to detail as well as the ability to adhere to corporate policies to ensure data integrity and security.

We are looking for a student intern to start in May and work 40 hours per week during the summer, with the potential to continue working into the school year. This internship can be based out of either our Lincoln, NE; North Kansas City, MO; Oklahoma City, OK; Omaha, NE; or Springfield, MO office locations.

Qualifications

You bring to the team:

  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team 
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in GIS 
    • Completed one to two years of college coursework in GIS 
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro 
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online applications (Dashboards, Field Maps, Experience Builder, Survey123) 
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 products 
  • Familiarity with coordinate systems, map projections, standard cartographic methods, theories, and principles 
  • Knowledge of coding languages 
    • Preferred languages include Python (ArcPy) JavaScript (ArcGIS API for JavaScript), Arcade, and SQL 
  • Some experience using AutoCAD/Civil 3D preferred
