At the American Public Power Association (APPA), we serve as the voice of not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power 2,000 towns and cities nationwide. We represent public power before the federal government to protect the interests of the more than 54 million people that public power utilities serve, and the 96,000 people they employ. We have an exciting opportunity for a Database Intern who will work with our member database team on a range of activities, including researching organizations, creating and updating records, generating reports, and verifying data outputs.
This is an in-office position which requires the incumbent to reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and come into the office Mondays - Wednesdays, working 21 hours per week. This internship will be from June 1st – August 19th.
It is important to note; internship dates are flexible to accommodate the candidate’s preference for an earlier or slightly later start date. The selected candidate should communicate this request to their immediate supervisor and Human Resources if necessary.
- Review potential invalid contact records and research updated information
- Review of potential duplicate contact records
- Update key contacts for association members
- Update contact records based on bounce back emails and subscription requests
- Organize, tag, or delete campaign records
- Create dashboards and underlying reports
- Analyze and standardize data across multiple databases
- Revise Marketing Cloud segmentation lists
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree seeking program or recent graduate
- Experience working with databases, Salesforce and/or Fonteva experience is a plus
- Ability to work in teams and independently
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to complete long and short-term projects and tasks on schedule
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Experience with Marketing Cloud or Account Engagement is also a plus
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing and extensive walking during conferences and meetings
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
