Come intern for Kentucky Educational Television, (KET), one of the largest and most respected statewide public broadcasting networks in the nation.

The Public Affairs Television Production Internship (O. Leonard Press Public Affairs Internship) offers motivated college students an exceptional opportunity to gain skills and practical work experience in production and journalism.  Students will work closely with KET professionals in the creation and production of public affairs programs and content.

This paid internship includes an hourly wage plus the opportunity to earn two stipends during the semester for achieving certain performance markers.

OPPORTUNITIES:
Public Affairs Television Production interns will work on programs like Inside Louisville, Kentucky Health, Kentucky Edition, and legislative coverage and gain experience in areas such as:
  • Video—Assisting in camera operation in the field and in the studio
  • Audio—Assisting audio technicians in the field and in the studio
  • Editing—Assisting in editing footage
  • Graphic Design—Assisting in creating graphics for programs
  • Production—running teleprompter; logging and transcribing video and interviews
  • Administrative—Researching content, legislation, and other information; scheduling and providing hospitality for guests appearing on programs; assisting producers and associate producers
  • Legislative Support—Support in all areas of production in Frankfort and Lexington
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Students must be currently pursuing a degree in a related field at the time of application and during the internship.
  • Students must have completed at least 24 academic credit hours or equivalent and be in good academic standing.
  • Students must have strong computer, writing and communication skills with course work and or interest in Public Media, Journalism, Civics, or Politics.  
  • Students must commit to at least 120 hours during one semester and have the flexibility to work evening hours.
  • This internship may require job-related travel including overnight stays; sitting and/or standing/walking for long periods; handling of average-weight objects up to 50lbs.
