We work onsite 4+ days a week, with our team based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and Juneau, Wisconsin. Our team of 700+ passionate pet people thrives on collaboration, innovation, and the occasional office cameo from a four-legged friend.


What You’ll Do:

As a Hardware Test Engineering Intern, you will assist with the coordination and execution of standardized laboratory testing to support the development of high-quality consumer robotics products that meet customer needs. This hands-on internship is designed for students pursuing degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields who are interested in hardware testing, validation, and product development. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

  • Assists with EV/DV/PV testing, data collection, and preparation of test results and reports under the guidance of Hardware Test Engineers and Quality Engineering
  • Supports creation and execution of test plans derived from Engineering Requirements Documents while working closely with System Test Engineers
  • Reads and interprets schematics, assembly drawings, datasheets, and process documentation to support testing activities and basic fixture builds
  • Assists with troubleshooting, failure analysis, and rework/repair of non-conforming hardware to help identify root causes.
  • Supports testing activities at third-party laboratories when needed
  • Participates in building and organizing the hardware test lab, including assisting with test equipment setup, fixture assembly, and documentation
  • Helps to track test activities, organize data, and maintain reports for internal engineering projects
  • Assists in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for DV and PV test lab operations
  • Supports hardware lab activities across multiple locations as needed
  • Will perform additional responsibilities as required 

Requirements

What You’ll Bring:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Completion of at least one year of undergraduate coursework by the start of the internship.
  • Interest in hardware testing, electronics, embedded systems, or robotics.
  • Ability to read basic electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with basic lab equipment (e.g., multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes) preferred.
  • Ability to follow directions and safely use hand and power tools.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative lab environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Comfortable with office pets (cats, dogs).

Not Required but Nice to Have!

  • Coursework or project experience related to robotics, embedded systems, or hardware design.
  • Experience with data analysis, test documentation, or lab automation tools.
  • Prior internship, co-op, or hands-on lab experience.
