PIPESTONE is helping farmers through expertise and resources in pig health, management, nutrition, research, and business. We serve over 1,500 farmers across the Midwest from our five office locations and the 70+ sow farms that we manage on behalf of family farmers.
About the Role

OBJECTIVE:
Develop and promote health programs and display PIPESTONE’s core values of Integrity, Commitment, Caring, Growth and Teamwork by providing outstanding veterinary care and service to our clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)

  • Build a strong relationship with farmers and become a trusted advisor for their operation.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure profitability and high-quality care for our clients.
  • Identify root causes of diseases, accurately diagnosis and treat pigs for better health.
  • Determine and communicate most effective treatment options and work with client to arrive at the best treatment plan.
  • Design and monitor the execution of health programs, including biosecurity, surveillance, vaccination and medication.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day problems farmers are experiencing.
  • Demonstrate a scientific approach that is accompanied by ethical principles that are consistent with PIPESTONE’s core values.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education:  
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree or Bachelor’s degree

Experience:   
Prior experience in veterinary field preferred, but not required                 

Work Environment:
Agricultural swine environment in rural area
Noise levels that may require hearing protection in some areas

Physical Requirements: 
Standing, walking and ability to be on feet 8 to 10 hours per day
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting and kneeling
Frequent use of one or both hands/arms to grasp or pull
Occasional lifting of objects weighing 3-20 pounds

Additional Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and presentation skills. 
Ability to develop strong and supportive working relationships with staff at various locations
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to travel
