Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineering Summer Student Intern to join our team for the upcoming season. This internship offers an exciting opportunity for students pursuing a degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting, gain practical experience, and contribute to meaningful projects within our organization.

The Engineering Summer Student’s primary function is to support the engineering team by assisting with a variety of tasks. This includes tasks such as assisting in the design electrical systems or components, documenting project progress and findings, conducting research, troubleshooting issues as they arise, collaborating with team members, adhering to safety protocols, attending meetings to learn about project management and communication, and overall, contributing to the successful completion of engineering projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience and knowledge in the field of electrical engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong academic background with coursework in electrical circuits, power systems, and electromechanical devices.
  • Proficiency in Electrical Engineering software tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar programs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior internship experience or relevant extracurricular activities is considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, of electrical power systems and components.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development opportunities offered within the organization.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze and troubleshoot electrical circuits and systems.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and methodologies to enhance system performance and efficiency.

  • Conduct research and gather data to support engineering analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Document project progress, findings, and outcomes in comprehensive reports and presentations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working in field environments.

Other:

  • This position is a mix of office and field work. A small portion of this position will require some time in the field. 
  • CSA-Approved safety boots (Green triangle designation) are necessary for this role.
