About the Role

Summary

Quintessa is an estate nestled in the heart of Rutherford, where 160 acres of vines across 26 vineyard blocks within our 280-acre property, all farmed Organically and Biodynamically. Quintessa produces two wines: Quintessa, our red Bordeaux-style blend, and Illumination, our Sauvignon Blanc. We are seeking passionate, hardworking, and detail-oriented interns to join our 2026 harvest team for a fully immersive experience across all aspects of production. 

This is a full-time, seasonal position spanning from mid-August through mid-November. Applicants are responsible for their own housing and transportation.

Hourly pay range of $20-$25, plus a one-time $600 sign-on bonus.

Essential Duties

This is a hands-on position, encompassing all aspects of the harvest winemaking process. You will gain experience in all areas of winery operations while working directly with the Winemaking team. This will include, but not be limited to:

  • Receiving, sorting, and processing grapes.
  • Juice settling and racking.
  • Red fermentation management including pump-overs, punch-downs, and délestage.
  • White fermentation in barrel and concrete eggs.
  • Stacking and filling barrels in our caves.
  • Fermentation management and additions.
  • Fermentation monitoring and sampling, including tasting and analysis with winemaker.
  • Draining and digging out tanks.
  • Pressing musts in basket and bladder presses.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing all winery equipment.
  • Following and observing all winery safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience recommended, but not required
  • Good interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Capable of working safely and efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • A positive attitude, open and curious – asks thoughtful questions.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills (English)
  • Ability to follow instructions and take direction. 
  • Spanish speaking a plus
  • Must be legally able to work in the USA

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, such as early mornings, and weekends, to accommodate the needs of harvest operations. 
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift cases of wine, up to ~50 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to sit bend, stoop, twist and walk over uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to safely operate various machines. 
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
