About the Role

MHIRJ Procurement Internship - Indirect Goods and Services 

MHIRJ provides comprehensive critical operational, engineering and customer support solutions including maintenance, refurbishment, technical publications, marketing and sales activities for the global regional aircraft industry.

Headquartered in Boisbriand, Québec, and bolstered by an Aerospace Engineering Centre, MHIRJ’s network of Service Centres, Support Offices and Parts Depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in Canada, the U.S. and Germany.

Based in Mississauga (ON) and reporting directly to the Manager Procurement Indirect Goods and Services (IGS), you will have exposure to major indirect procurement activities related to the top IGS commodities (i.e. Corporate Services (CS), Information Technology (IT), Engineering Services (ES), among others) for the MHI RJ Aviation Group.

This internship position is ideally hybrid (3 days remote and 2 days at the MHIRJ office in Mississauga to interact with peers and internal customers).

In your role, as a IGS Procurement intern, you will:

  • Assist the IGS commodity leaders to establish and maintain relationship with strategic suppliers from a commercial and contractual standpoint;
  • Work in collaboration with IGS team members and MHIRJ departments to develop new sources of supply and establish strategic alliances;
  • Assist the development and execution of strategies related to IGS projects by supporting the contract draft and negotiation with suppliers to meet approved mandates defined by the business requestors and within defined schedule;
  • Support the IGS commodity leaders to identify, analyze and realize cost reduction/avoidance opportunities within the IGS commodities;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify procurement requirements and the respective sourcing strategies while optimizing synergy opportunities within the MHI group;
  • Participate in the IGS initiative to manage suppliers’ performance during the execution of contracts and help to ensure the contractual engagements are respected;
  • Support the business requestors in the application of contractual remedies against material breaches and commercial negotiations with non-performing suppliers;
  • Assist on contract maintenance in accordance with MHIRJ procurement policies and business requirements;
  • Help IGS Management to maintain records on IGS governance and KPIs as per IGS Procurement balance scorecard objectives;

Qualifications

As our ideal intern candidate,

  • You are enrolled in Business Administration, Business and Law or equivalent program;
  • You have passion for learning and is open to acquire new knowledge;
  • You want to apply the concepts learned in the academic environment into real Business situations;
  • You have interest in acquiring relevant experience in Indirect Procurement and contract management ideally within multiple commodities;
  • You would like to develop further your already existing commercial and contractual negotiation skills;
  • You have strong team work and interpersonal skills;
  • You can work well with MS-Office and Power BI applications.
