About the Role

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) provides technical development and commercialization of domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies for use in batteries that power electric cars, grid storage applications, and consumer electronics and tools. Our first of kind systems produce commercial-scale battery materials that are sold into the battery manufacturing supply chain.

As an Analytical Chemistry Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside our Analytical Chemistry Team in the laboratory setting. You will assist in various laboratory operations and chemical analyses, supporting the design and implementation of our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes and primary resource extraction technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates looking to apply their academic knowledge in a practical environment, and learn about good laboratory practices, sample preparation, and data analysis in a cutting-edge industry.

  • Assist in maintaining good laboratory hygiene, including cleaning of labware, instrumentation, and workspaces.
  • Support routine laboratory tasks associated with sample preparation and analysis.
  • Help with data entry and laboratory management tasks.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure adherence to quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) measures.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.S. in Applied Chemistry or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of organic and inorganic analytical chemistry principles.
  • Experience or coursework involving sample preparation, chemical analysis, and laboratory instrumentation is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and ability to generate reliable and reproducible results.
  • Familiarity with laboratory best practices and safety protocols.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift samples and materials (up to 50 lbs.) as needed.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory with engineering controls to mitigate potential exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals.
  • Strong manual dexterity is necessary for operating tools and common office and laboratory equipment.
  • Must have clear vision, 20/20 or corrected vision.
