About The Company
Eikon Therapeutics is a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company advancing a pipeline of potential therapies for patients with unmet medical needs. We are passionate about novel therapeutics and share the belief that a better understanding of fundamental human disease biology can lead to better medicines. We are driven to go beyond incremental improvements. Instead, our goal is to introduce new therapies into clinical practice that will improve and extend life. Our clinical programs in oncology leverage immune response modulation and synthetic lethality to improve cancer therapy, while our discovery efforts are focused on identifying novel targets through application of single-molecule imaging to the study of cancer and neurological diseases. By applying machine learning algorithms to the very large imaging data sets that emerge from our imaging platforms, we can advance our programs towards our ultimate goal of discovering and developing better medicines. Eikon is seeking intellectually curious, passionate, and creative team members that are eager to apply their talents to empower interdisciplinary scientific exploration and ultimately create and develop novel medicines. About the Role

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

This 10-week summer internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the Hardware Engineering function in a collaborative, fast-paced research and development environment. The Hardware Engineering Intern will support development of user interface and control systems that enable hardware platform functionality and instrument control. In this role, you will gain exposure to embedded systems development, hardware-software integration, and web-based interface design. This internship is designed to provide experience working alongside embedded software engineers to develop and enhance control system interfaces used to support scientific instrumentation and hardware platforms.

About You

You are interested in hardware and embedded systems development and enjoy working at the intersection of software, firmware, and electronics. You are curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn how hardware control systems are developed and maintained. You enjoy troubleshooting technical challenges, building user-facing tools, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with embedded software engineers to develop and enhance web-based user interfaces for MIC controller hardware platforms.
  • Support development and testing of embedded firmware and control system functionality.
  • Assist with integration of hardware and software components supporting instrument control systems.
  • Support troubleshooting, debugging, and validation of hardware and embedded system performance.
  • Assist with development and documentation of user interface features and system workflows.
  • Support testing and validation of system updates across Linux-based environments.
  • Maintain documentation of technical workflows, development progress, and system configurations.
  • Present internship project outcomes and key learnings.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Entering junior or senior year of undergraduate study at the start of the internship.
  • Must be enrolled in school during the internship program.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with basic web development concepts and technologies.
  • Experience or academic exposure to C/C++ programming.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain technical documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing technical development tasks.
  • Must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) during core business hours for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer internship program.
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware development concepts is preferred.

The expected hourly pay for this role is $36/hour.
