Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and responsible intern for a full-time 8-week summer internship. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience under the guidance of our talented professionals.

You’ll learn all aspects of the Packing House operations, develop production strategies, drive continuous improvement efforts, and contribute to our company’s success—all while preparing for a future career in operations. This position will be based on-site at Wonderful Citrus located in Delano, CA. This schedule for this internship is 40 hours per week Monday-Friday. Days of the week and work hours may change due to business needs.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Learn and understand all aspects of the Packing House Operations from the time the fruit is received, processed, and shipped.
  • Assist in production planning for the various areas of the Lemon and Orange departments such as presort, pack, bagging, and conveyance.
  • Work alongside various production roles including Operations Supervisors, Clerks, and Equipment Operators.
  • Identify, develop, and support continuous improvement opportunities
  • Update and develop departmental SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Assist with WOW projects and identifying quick wins
  • Provide general administrative support to the operations team

Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:

  • High School Diploma/General Education Diploma and currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Business Management, Agriculture, or related
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum of beginner proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work autonomously
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
  • Good problem-solving skills and communication

Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour.
