About the Role

Schneider Electric is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern or Co-Op for our Cedar Rapids, Iowa Engineering Design Center starting June 2026 to support the maintenance and optimization of our existing offer of circuit breaker product families. This candidate will work with product engineers, gaining exposure to a Fortune 500 company.

 

What will you do?

  • Complete and release design and documentation changes required to maintain and optimize an existing product offer. 
  • Support Product Engineers with the analysis and resolution of problems using methodical problem-solving techniques (e.g. 5 Whys) and tools (e.g. Fishbone Diagram).
  • Support Root cause analysis investigation, both documentation and hands on.
  • Support Continuous Engineers with Product Audits.
  • Support development and maintenance of the product definition file: 3D component modeling , 3D assembly creation/editing , 2D drawing creation/editing , BOM creation/editing
  • Work collaboratively on cross-functional teams to address quality, performance, and productivity objectives. 

What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Pursuing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Familiar with metal stamping, thermoset and thermoplastic molding processes.
  • Familiar with Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly techniques.
  • Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and able to work June-December 2026 in-person
  • Full-time Co-Ops are preferred, but this position is also open to interns who can work full-time in the summer and part-time in the fall.
