About the Role

As a Materials and Test Engineering Intern, you will work directly with engineers to influence the LTA mission to revitalize and revolutionize next-generation rigid airships. The preferred candidate is an experienced student who exhibits abilities in project ownership and creative problem solving while learning from feedback in a rapidly changing research and development engineering environment. In addition to a strong technical ability, we are looking for positivity in challenging circumstances, an eagerness to collaborate, and a supportive determination toward LTA Vision and Guiding Principles.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support characterization and testing of advanced materials, systems, and structures.
  • Analyze material and system behavior and provide recommendations based on analysis. 
  • Design, conduct, and analyse tests to optimize material, system, and structural performance.
  • Write test procedures for a variety of destructive and nondestructive tests
  • Translate experimental and research insights into actionable development plans to drive further understanding.
  • Document and present results to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with requirements and regulations.


Qualifications
  • Pursuing Bachelor or Graduate degree, in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in industry or research roles in material behavior, material science, composites, adhesives, aircraft, or related areas. 
  • Ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Superior communication, listening, and critical thinking skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with composites material selection, testing, or manufacturing. 
  • Experience in destructive and non-destructive testing methods and analysis.
  • Knowledge of ultrasonic testing and x-ray computed tomography.
  • Hands on experience with mechanical testing, such as tube buckling or compression testing
