Our Vacationer Program is a paid summer internship (4 weeks) offering real client exposure, project work, and structured onboarding. You’ll have a dedicated buddy, access to networking and social events, and the opportunity to be considered for an early Graduate offer.

 

Program dates: November 2026 – February 2027 

Duration: 4 weeks

Eligibility: Penultimate-year students and PR or Citizen of Australia or NZ Citizen

Our actuarial team responds to change and shapes the agenda for the future of business. Combining the talents of our teams, we work together to solve the biggest challenges and create new opportunities for our clients. 

 

Our supportive and diverse actuarial services team has 4 interesting focus areas:

 

  1. Insurance Advisory – work with insurance sector clients that provide end-to-end quantitative solutions, including strategic advice, product pricing, financial and operational risk modelling, capital optimisation, audit and assurance services, mergers and acquisitions, and more. Our clients span across various insurers including life insurers, general insurers and public sector indemnity and protection schemes – from the “big 4” general insurers offering all classes of insurance through to small niche providers offering customer specific insurance needs.

 

  1. Banking Advisory – leverages our actuarial expertise to provide comprehensive advisory services to retail and institutional banks, as well as government lending bodies. Our team specialises in quantitative risk analytics, covering credit risk, market risk, liquidity, and treasury support.

 

  1. Superannuation & Investment Advisory – provide strategic and quantitative advisory services to superannuation and investment fund managers. This role offers the opportunity to serve a diverse range of institutional clients, including asset managers, super funds, wealth managers, charities, sovereign wealth funds, and insurers.

 

  1. Superannuation & Investment Technology – offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation, utilising emerging technologies and strategies to deliver meaningful results to the investment management industry.

 

Degrees: Actuarial Studies/Science (highly preferred), Business, Commerce, Data Analytics, Finance, Information Technology, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Science, Artificial Intelligence 

 

What will your typical day look like?

Step into a dynamic environment where you’ll learn from experts, tackle real challenges, and grow your skills in a supportive team. Depending on the team and project, you could:

  • Apply your analytical skills in a dynamic environment, working on impactful projects that drive financial performance and client success.

 

  • Leverage technologies such as R, Python, and machine learning algorithms to derive actionable insights to help provide meaning to institutions across the globe.

 

  • Engage in retail banking product development, pricing strategies, and customer analytics.

 

  • Strategic assessments, investment model design, investment manager selection, fund mergers, regulatory responses, retirement calculators, and defined benefit calculations.

 

  • Specialise in areas including technology and data architecture, tender management, investment data management and technology operation model design and review. 

 

  • Given the opportunity to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, enhancing your strategic thinking, technical capabilities and problem-solving skills.

 

You won’t be expected to know everything from day one. You’ll be supported through structured learning, feedback, and collaboration.

We’re seeking penultimate-year students to join our vacationer program. As a naturally curious, bright, ambitious and hard-working student, you’ll also:    

  • Be studying a relevant degree that matches the degree type (above).

  • Be an excellent communicator – articulate and possess strong writing skills

  • Be an Australian permanent resident or Australian/New Zealand Citizen
