Job Summary
The EH&S Intern will support the Environmental, Health & Safety team by assisting with compliance activities, environmental data management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role helps maintain regulatory records, supports inspections and audits, and contributes to environmental programs focused on air, water, waste, and spill prevention. The intern will also assist with reporting, program updates, training materials, and employee awareness efforts. This position provides hands‑on exposure to environmental compliance and sustainability practices in a dynamic work environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

 

  • Assist with environmental and safety inspections, audits, and site walkthroughs
  • Support compliance efforts related to air, water, waste, and spill prevention
  • Help maintain permits, logs, training records, and inspection documentation
  • Track environmental metrics such as waste, emissions, recycling, and water usage
  • Support preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and event documentation
  • Organize records for regulatory inspections and internal audits
  • Assist with updates to environmental programs (waste, stormwater, SPCC, chemical management)
  • Participate in environmental improvement initiatives and compliance projects
  • Support development of environmental training materials and presentations
  • Assist with campaigns that promote employee awareness and engagement
  • Attend EHS/environmental meetings and contribute to communications efforts

 

Other duties may be assigned as needed to support business operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Strong interest in environmental compliance, sustainability, and regulatory frameworks (air, water, waste, spill prevention, etc.)
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and interpret data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (data tracking, reporting, presentations)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation
  • Effective communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks or projects
  • Willingness to participate in fieldwork, inspections, or site walkthroughs
  • Motivated, proactive, and eager to learn about EH&S programs and compliance processes

Work Environment:

  • Primarily an office environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and lift up to 25 lbs as needed
  • Potential exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, or other environmental factors.

This role requires compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
