About the Role

The Role 

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a diverse group of talented students to join the internship program at Schonfeld. Over the course of ten weeks, you will become an integral part of our Cyber Risk group within the Schonfeld Technology division. You will be immersed in Schonfeld’s collaborative culture, working alongside cybersecurity professionals on impactful, real-world projects addressing today’s most pressing threats. 

The Cybersecurity Department at Schonfeld is dedicated to safeguarding the firm’s data, assets, and reputation from both internal and external threats, while securely enabling the business to innovate and grow in an increasingly complex threat landscape. It includes Security Engineering, Security Operations, and Governance, Risk, and Compliance teams. 

The Governance, Risk, and Compliance Team is responsible for enhancing Cyber Governance framework, Cyber Risk / Vendor Risk management, Regulatory Response, Information Security Awareness and Training 

What You’ll Do 

As an intern, you will: 

  • Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team on process and standard alignment with cyber frameworks, using firm’s AI tools. 
  • Analyze potential use cases for integrating AI into GRC processes. 
  • Participate in Cyber Due Diligence analysis for third parties and vendors. 
  • Assist in Knowledge Base building for regulatory and investor response. 
  • Prepare multimedia cyber security awareness & training materials. 

You’ll receive support from a dedicated manager and mentor, participate in team-building events, lunch-and-learns, social activities, and network with senior management.  

Summer-long projects will be directly related to the team’s work, culminating in a presentation to leadership.  

No prior finance experience required—just a passion for technology, curiosity about cybersecurity, and a drive to solve complex problems in a high-stakes environment. 

What You’ll Bring 

  • A junior pursuing a degree in an Information Systems/Technology Risk/Cybersecurity field. 
  • Someone who has demonstrated strong interest in the cybersecurity space through previous internships, part time jobs, extracurricular activities, and/or classes 
  • High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities 
  • Strong interest in taking ownership of tasks/projects. 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills 

 

Our Internship 

The Schonfeld summer internship provides students with a unique opportunity to experience Schonfeld, our work, our people, and our culture. Interns will typically join a small team and will spend 10 weeks at Schonfeld from June - August. 

Each summer intern will work on a tailored project that will provide them with real world experienceWe provide all interns with a dedicated mentor and manager to help them navigate the summer successfully. Interns will also participate in our learning program, the Sapphire: Summer Session, which aims to provide tangible skills training and education on various functions across the firm and in the workplace. Along with the hands-on guidance and support from managers and mentors, interns will participate in weekly networking events, engage with our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alliance, attend panel discussions, and have many opportunities to get to know Schonfeld’s core values in practice.

The annual base pay for this role is expected to be between $85,000 and $95,000 which will be prorated based on internship start and end date. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and level of education.
