Our Vacationer Program is a paid summer internship (4 weeks) offering real client exposure, project work, and structured onboarding. You’ll have a dedicated buddy, access to networking and social events, and the opportunity to be considered for an early Graduate offer. 

 

Program dates: November 2026 – February 2027  

Duration: 4 weeks

Location: Brisbane

Eligibility: Penultimate-year students and PR or Citizen of Australia or NZ Citizens.

 

About the team 

M&A is one of the major aspects of the corporate finance world. Each facet of M&A has its own unique challenge, and it often takes a diverse team to get the best results on a deal. Deloitte’s M&A business is one of the largest in Australia, advising top tier clients on complex merger, acquisition, divestment and capital market activities. Our team works across a range of sectors including consumer business, financial services, infrastructure, technology, healthcare and real estate.  

Consulting Services – help Corporate and Private Equity clients maximise the benefits and maintain business and operational continuity when making acquisitions or divestments. Specifically, we support our clients throughout the M&A lifecycle by helping define their M&A strategy, performing commercial due diligence of the market in which a target operates, assessing potential merger synergies or standalone operations of businesses, and providing acquisition integration or divestment separation support. A day in the life of an M&A Consulting Services graduate/ vacationer will be diverse and varied!

Degrees: Finance, Business/Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Arts, or Engineering, majoring in Finance

 

What will your typical day look like?

Step into a dynamic environment where you’ll learn from experts, tackle real challenges, and grow your skills in a supportive team. Depending on the team and project, you could:

 

  • Build your analytical and advisory skills as you support clients by providing advice based on financial analysis of key valuation drivers of a transaction. 
  • Undertake analysis of annual and monthly financial statements to identify trends, drivers of trading performance and any one-off events. 
  • Build knowledge of accounting and financial concepts, as well as commercial and business acumen
  • Be given the opportunity to work on large and complex business valuations where you will gather an in-depth understanding of the market, including the legal or regulatory environment, and analyse financial and qualitative information to provide insightful technical and commercial valuation advice.
  • Partner with functional leads to develop and project manage integration or separation plans, blueprinting a target operating model, hosting a client workshop, modelling potential synergies or the standalone cost base of a business, or analysing potential new markets for our clients to expand into.

 

You won’t be expected to know everything from day one. You’ll be supported through structured learning, feedback, and collaboration.

We’re seeking penultimate-year students to join our vacationer program. As a naturally curious, bright, ambitious and hard-working student, you’ll also:   

 

  • Be studying a relevant degree that matches the degree type (above).
  • Have endless curiosity and a constant hunger to learn new skills
  • Have a unique approach to problem-solving with an ability to think logically, analytically, and creatively
  • Love working with people and have good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial concepts, commercial and business acumen and familiarity with Microsoft Excel are highly desirable.
  • Be an Australian permanent resident or Australian/New Zealand Citizen
