About the Role


summary of position

Summer internship starts in May and ends in August. Interns will work alongside Mechanical Engineers for a local manufacturer of refrigeration and HVAC equipment. Interns will work on special projects assigned by RAE Engineers and learn about the refrigeration and HVAC industry. 

Essential functions

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information. 
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate designs' feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements or applications. 
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. 
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. 
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systems. 
  • Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects. 
     
     
  • Design test control apparatus and equipment and develop procedures for testing products. 
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software. 
  • Complete any task as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
  • Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies, and company procedures. 
  • Attend work as required.
  • Arrive for work on time.
  • Charge time accurately in time and attendance system on the computer to ensure accurate labor distribution and payroll.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions, work independently without constant supervision, be self-motivated, and complete job assignments on time.

Sophomore or Junior Level Engineering Student

Work is performed in an industrial production area for a manufacturer of refrigeration and HVAC equipment. The intern is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is high in some areas. Exposed to extreme temperatures in both winter and summer. Possible stress caused by the pressure of meeting deadlines and product quality standards. Seasonal variations in hours worked based on production demands.
