JOB SUMMARY: Under the guidance of senior-level Transportation and Civil Engineers, the Transportation Engineering Intern supports the team with basic design, documentation, and field tasks related to roadway and infrastructure projects. This role provides hands-on exposure to transportation engineering while allowing interns to apply classroom knowledge in a professional consulting environment.
REPORTS TO: Associate / Director of Transportation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with drafting and design support using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation
- Support basic roadway and site design tasks such as layouts, profiles, and quantity takeoffs
- Participate in site visits, field observations, and documentation of existing conditions
- Assist with data entry, spreadsheets, and project documentation
- Support plan reviews, permitting tasks, and general project coordination
- Attend project meetings and assist the project team as needed
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Junior or Senior level students are preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office preferred
- Exposure to Civil 3D or MicroStation is a plus
- Basic understanding of civil engineering concepts and interest in transportation projects
- Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in a team environment
PAY RANGE: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour based on graduation date and experience.
