Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Summer 2026 (Beginning of June-end of August)
Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Shift: Monday-Friday, during normal hours of operation
Pay: This is a paid internship and pay will be discussed prior to any interviews
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will drive process improvements in a manufacturing setting by collaborating with engineers, analyzing current systems, implementing changes, and contributing to cost reduction and efficiency enhancements. This role involves participating in problem-solving, project leadership, and documentation of manufacturing processes.
Essential Duties
- Implement improvement ideas generated by process improvement system.
- Collaborate with the team to improve production efficiency.
- Assist manufacturing engineers with improvement of current processes.
- Evaluate current processes and systems for cost reduction and improvement.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas.
- Perform root cause analysis to aid in solving problems in the manufacturing process
- Lead projects to improve manufacturing processes throughout the plant
- Implement changes to machines in order to provide continuous improvement
- Prepare and maintain plant layouts and work instructions for Manufacturing while interacting with hourly employees and office personnel
- Supports and maintains work standards, product routings, and SOPs
- Recommends product design improvements to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly
- Performs workflow balancing and time studies
Required Skills and Abilities
- Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
- Eagerness to develop analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to create experiments to determine root cause and trial fixes based on the data gathered
- Comfortable working with data files for Bill of Material and Routing information to ensure consistent and accurate data
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-function teams
Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled at an accredited institution, working towards a Bachelor’s degree with an engineering focus
- Ideal fields of study include Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking
- Occasional lifting, carrying, stooping, crouching, crawling, and bending
- Be able to handle, grasp, and perform repetitive motions
- Requires the ability to see, hear, touch, and smell
- Working in a manufacturing environment.
