POSITION OVERVIEW:

Lightstone is seeking to hire one summer intern within the accounting/finance department to help support the team in a number of key finance functions, including Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, and insurance Accounting. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with strong analytical skills, pursuing a degree in either Accounting or Finance, and enjoy flexible and dynamic project-based analysis. . 

This is a full-time, non-exempt role running from approximately June 15th to August 14th.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • FP&A Functions
    • Review the various investments with senior management and present analysis including internal rate of return (“IRR”) calculations and other performance metrics. 
    • Monitor REIT performance and assist in external public reporting
  • Reinsurance Business 
    • Work with the controller and CFO on various finance items related to the Company’s reinsurance business, a fast-growing segment within the Lightstone Group. 
    • Produce external reporting for the company’s counterparty and banking relationships 
      • Excel-based Financial Reporting
      • Pro-forma Analysis
      • Dynamic/Automatic Inputs/Outputs
  • Treasury Management 
    • Review of cash reporting across the company
    • Projecting and producing estimates for both future cash outlays as well as forecasts for each company business line
  • Best Practice initiatives to provide leadership with forward-looking financial reporting

 

COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior accounting or finance experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including financial analysis skills
  • Experience with presentations and other thought leadership a plus 
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, with a particular focus on Excel skills 
  • Ability to thrive in an environment that is highly entrepreneurial, both strategic and creative, which requires rapid learning, multitasking and prioritizing under tight deadlines
  • Superior verbal, written communications and presentation skills
  • Strong process management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify errors, problems, opportunities and effectively problem solve
