The Manufacturing Glaze Line Summer Intern will support production and engineering operations at our El Paso manufacturing facility, focusing on data analysis, process improvement, and quality enhancement within the glaze line operations.  This internship provides hands-on exposure to high-volume manufacturing processes, operational efficiency initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration within a production environment.  This internship is structured as a project-based experience to be completed within the 12-week program.  This position is located in El Paso, Texas and is an onsite internship opportunity. This is not a remote role.

The selected intern will present project outcomes at our annual Intern Expo Day on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.


Program Details

  • Program Dates: Monday, May 18, 2026 – Friday, August 7, 2026
  • Length: 12 Weeks
  • Schedule: Full-time, hourly
  • Required: Must be available for the full program duration and attend/present at Intern Expo Day

Project Scope & Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Glaze Line Intern will support the following initiatives:

Production Data Analysis

  • Collect and analyze production data including cycle time, scrap, downtime, and throughput
  • Identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Develop visual dashboards to support operational decision-making

Process & Production Support

  • Assist engineers and supervisors with daily production support on the glaze line
  • Observe and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Support root cause analysis for quality defects and process interruptions
  • Assist in implementing and validating process changes under engineering supervision
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Safety teams

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and visual summaries to communicate findings and results
  • Present project outcomes to leadership at the conclusion of the internship

Project Impact

A successful internship will:

  • Improve production efficiency and throughput
  • Reduce scrap and process variability
  • Strengthen SOP documentation and process consistency
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within glaze line operations

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skill
