A portion of the time will also be dedicated to improving and standardizing the existing CAD library through drawing updates and new model creation.

About the role:  

The Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student will be a part of the Hardware R&D team, contributing to various stages of product development, from conceptual design to prototyping and testing. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Project Support: The co-op student will actively contribute to ongoing Hardware R&D projects. Specific project involvement will include:

    • Ultraslim Sensor Development: Assisting in the design, analysis, and prototyping of mechanical components for a new Ultraslim sensor. This may involve CAD modeling, material selection, and participation in testing procedures.

    • North Finder Development: Contributing to the mechanical design aspects of the North Finder project, which could include developing fixtures, optimizing existing designs, and supporting experimental setups.

  • CAD Library Update: A portion of the co-op's time will be dedicated to making drawing improvements and optimizing the existing CAD library. This includes standardizing components, creating new models, and ensuring all designs adhere to current best practices and company standards. This initiative is crucial for streamlining design processes and improving overall efficiency.

Requirements:   


The ideal candidate for this co-op position will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and a keen interest in hardware development. Essential skills include:


  • Proficiency in CAD software (ideally SolidWorks)

  • Understanding of mechanical design principles, including material properties and manufacturing processes

  • Ability to generate and interpret technical models and drawings

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities


Salary Information:  


The expected salary for this position is $28-$30 CAD per hour.  The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s skills, competencies, and experience for the position.
