Summary:

Our internship positions allow high school/college/trade school students to learn our industry, right where the action takes place. This will be a hands-on experience for students to learn the industry from the ground up, working alongside some of the best in the aggregates business. This a great opportunity for students with minimal or no mining industry experience to gain first-hand knowledge of environmental best practices in the aggregates industry.andnbsp;The position will be based in Dallas, Texas, with periods of overnight travel throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Monthly housing allowance included for candidates relocating to the area.

 

What to Expect:
Interns will enter an approximatelyandnbsp;10-12 weekandnbsp;internship program, allowing for ownership of a project, allowing the individual to learn the aggregates business and develop professional skills including leadership, time management, and relationship building. The goal of the Internship program is to provide individuals with hands-on experience with the South Division Operations Services Team and allow them to explore safety, production, engineering, geology, quality control, sales, administration and so much more.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Adheres to and enforces ethical, safety and environmental measures
  • Conducts environmental site evaluations, drafts reports, and other assigned duties
  • Becomes familiar with the operations of an Aggregate Quarry/Plant, understanding the production process
  • Becomes familiar with the traits of high-performing managers in Martin Marietta
  • Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct

 

Qualifications and skills:

Candidates must be currently pursuing a degree or trade certification in:

  • Engineering/Science Disciplines – Mining, Environmental, Biology, Geology, and/or Earth Sciences

 

Candidate must also have:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Over 18-years old
  • Prior related experience is preferred, not required
  • The ability to learn technical processes, high-level verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Possess reliable day-to-day transportation

 

Working Conditions

Majority of time will be outside and may require periods of work in all weather conditions - heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
