About The Company

Vaxcyte is a vaccine innovation company engineering high-fidelity vaccines to protect humankind from the consequences of bacterial diseases. VAX-31, a 31-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) candidate being evaluated in a Phase 3 adult clinical program and in a Phase 2 infant clinical program, is being developed for the prevention of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) and is the broadest-spectrum PCV candidate in the clinic today. As a CMC IT Intern for Vaxcyte, you will work on a project as outlined below:

Support development and customization of an nf-core pipeline for protein structure prediction.
Assist with deployment and optimization of the pipeline in Azure within an existing VNet.
Develop or enhancing a basic user interface to allow scientists to submit jobs and review results.
Act as a liaison between scientists and IT to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

The Intern will learn and practice:

How protein folding prediction tools and prediction tools are operationalized in an enterprise setting.
Deploy and secure scientific applications in Azure within a virtual network.
Skills in performance optimization, cost analysis, and cloud resource tuning.
Collaboration with scientists and IT professionals to translate research needs into scalable technical solutions.

Program Details:

The Internship will begin in June and will be around 10 weeks (8 hours per day) in duration at our San Carlos, California location.

Requirements:

Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree (enrolled student with at least 1 year at university completed) with a focus on Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong attention to detail and work quality.
Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork.
Enthusiastic-Shows curiosity and is eager to learn.

Reports to: Principal Data Systems Engineer

Location: San Carlos, CA

Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is $23-$26 per hour for undergraduate students. Actual pay will be determined based on year of university/college completed. The Summer Internship position will not be eligible for benefits. Relocation and housing stipend will not be offered.
