Job Description

Internship Description:

Wonderful Orchards has a viticulture internship opportunity with JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery available for the 2026 growing season and beginning of harvest. Internship is from May through August. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, self-motivated, hardworking and detail-oriented with a passion for agriculture. This will be an opportunity to work directly with the Vineyard team. The position starts with field data collection for crop estimates which leads to grapevine phenology tracking. Assistance with scouting and sugar sampling leading up to harvest will also be of primary focus. The position also covers miscellaneous vineyard work and support of the vineyard team staff.

Job duration: Internship role begins May 1st through August 1st. This is a full-time, 40 hours/week, hourly-paid internship position. The start and end dates are flexible based on vineyard needs and intern schedules.

Responsibilities:

  • Data collection:
    • Cluster counting for crop yield estimation
    • Data entry
    • Pest scouting
    • Phenological data tracking – bloom, veraison, etc.
  • Development tracking:
    • Vine block counts
    • Replant quantity tracking
  • Ability to utilize and operate tools and equipment used in agricultural applications including RTV/ATV and hand tools.
  • Projects and opportunities as needed by the business

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Possessing a degree (or currently enrolled) in an Agriculture or Wine & Viticulture program is preferred; harvest and wine industry experience is recommended.
  • Willingness to take time off from school during the duration of the internship is expected. Exceptions may be made to accommodate scheduling conflicts.
  • Possess a positive attitude; strong communication skills; detail-oriented; comfortable working alone as well as effectively with others.
  • Self-motivated; a desire to learn and solve problems is critical.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk long distances and/or hills in a variety of hot and cold climates for a large portion of the days. This position is primarily outdoors.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a team environment, and independently.
  • Ability to work comfortably in secluded areas with no cell service.
  • Comfortable around wildlife and outdoor settings.
  • Flexible and willing to work varying shifts, overtime, and weekends.

- Pay rate: $18.50/hour.
