CNC Machining Internship

About the Opportunity
The Gund Company is offering a hands-on CNC Machining Internship designed for students enrolled in manufacturing, machining, or technical programs. This internship provides real-world experience working alongside skilled machinists while learning how to safely set up, run, and inspect CNC-produced parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Learn

  • Basics of operating CNC mills and lathes
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
  • Machine setup, tool changes, and offsets (under supervision)
  • Quality inspection using calipers, micrometers, & gauges
  • Material handling and workflow processes
  • Safety procedures and shop best practices
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist machinists with daily production activities
  • Operate CNC equipment after training (entry-level tasks)
  • Perform basic measurements to ensure quality
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Support machine operators and production leaders as needed

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a machining, manufacturing, or technical program
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in CNC machining
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
