We believe architecture is more than designing buildings, it’s about providing solutions to societal challenges and creating stronger, more vibrant communities. As part of our Architecture practice at HDR, you’ll contribute to the design and delivery of spaces and experiences that advance community well-being around the world. From healing environments and learning spaces to research labs and civic landmarks and infrastructure, your work will directly influence how individuals experience the world around them. We bring together architects, planners, designers, and technical experts to solve complex design challenges with creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. From championing design excellence with an emphasis on resilience and sustainability to pioneering innovative building technologies, your contributions will leave a lasting impact on the built environment. This isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to drive meaningful change and help define the future of our communities.
Work responsibilities include assisting landscape architects in our team with:
- Participate in design workshops, public facilitation, and concept development.
- Development of site design projects from concept development through construction documentation
- Creating diagrams and illustrative analysis and concept drawings using 3D and 2D digital illustration tools, free-hand drawing and color rendering
- Collaborating with architects, planners, engineers and other site-based disciplines on institutionally scaled design and planning projects
Collaborating with others on public input sessions, programming, and design implementation of master plans
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference given to local candidates
- A minimum of 4 semesters completed in major
- A minimum of 2.9 GPA
- Interested candidates should respond with a resume and portfolio of recent studio work (via web-based link)
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate degree in landscape architecture major in an accredited university program
- Technical skills should include proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D modeling / rendering programs (such as Rhino, VRay, Sketchup, Enscape, and/or Lumion) and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop and Illustrator)
- Understanding of the fundamentals of the full range of design phases including site analysis, site planning, grading and drainage, conceptual development, construction documentation
- ArcGIS, Grasshopper and/or Revit knowledge are desirable but not essential
- Desire to work in landscape architecture/urban design environment upon graduation
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
- Attention to detail
- Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
