About The Company
Del-Co Water, a 501-C (12) corporation, is a private, non-profit public drinking water system with a service area that extends into eight central Ohio counties. As a public water supplier, Del-Co Water operates under the authority of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA). A license (PWS-2101412) issued by Ohio EPA covers the operation, maintenance, and water quality activities related to the four water treatment facilities, the network of underground piping, and a series of 30 elevated storage tanks. Over the years Del-Co Water has increased the capacity of the drinking water system in response to the rapid population growth in the central Ohio region. The current design capacity of the treatment facilities is 45.5 million gallons of drinking water per day. Del-Co Water is currently reviewing demographic projections and expects continued growth of residential communities within the Del-Co service area. With this information, Del-Co Water will keep pace with future expansion by identifying and designing key infrastructure elements. Hours: M-F 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Hours / Days per week are flexible)

Location: Delaware, OH

Duration: 5/19– 8/14/26

Rate: Pay is based on the school year the candidate will be entering. Freshman and Sophomore $16.75; Junior and Senior $18.46


Overview: 

Del-Co’s Intern program provides each student with valuable real-life hands-on experience, coaching and mentoring in a unique industry. As the Seasonal Watershed Sampler, you will assist in the development of Del-Co’s watershed and source water protection strategies.  


Essential Duties

· Perform water quality sampling of Del-Co reservoirs, receiving streams, source water, and watershed.

· Perform water quality analyses for chemical and biological parameters.

· Calibrate and maintain sampling equipment, instrumentation, microscopes, and probes.  

· Collect algae samples and may use microscopes to identity, classify, and document samples. 

· Enter data, evaluate results, prepare reports, and identify algae species to augment database. 

· Research watershed and land use characteristics, point and nonpoint source pollution, and  surface and ground water source protection.

· Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

· Current student from an accredited college/university with an area of focus in water quality, environmental science, chemistry, biology, or related field.

· General understanding of water quality, sampling technique, analytical methods, and watershed dynamics.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

· Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

· Must be comfortable working in a boat and wearing a life jacket, with priority on boat safety.

· Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
