About The Company
Mirum Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to transforming the treatment of rare diseases affecting children and adults. Mirum has three approved medications: LIVMARLI® (maralixibat), CHOLBAM® (cholic acid) capsules, and CTEXLI™ (chenodiol) tablets. LIVMARLI, an IBAT inhibitor, is approved for the treatment of two rare liver diseases affecting children and adults. It is approved for the treatment of cholestatic pruritus in patients with Alagille syndrome in the U.S. (three months and older), in Europe (two months and older), and in other regions globally. It is also approved in the U.S. in cholestatic pruritus in PFIC patients 12 months of age and older; in Europe, it is approved for patients with PFIC three months of age and older. Mirum is also initiating the Phase 3 EXPAND study, a label expansion opportunity for LIVMARLI in additional settings of cholestatic pruritus. CHOLBAM is FDA-approved for the treatment of bile acid synthesis disorders due to single enzyme deficiencies and adjunctive treatment of peroxisomal disorders in patients who show signs or symptoms of liver disease. CTEXLI is FDA-approved for the treatment of cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX) in adults. Mirum's late-stage pipeline includes two investigational treatments for several rare diseases. Volixibat, an IBAT inhibitor, is being evaluated in two potentially registrational studies including the Phase 2 VISTAS study for primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and Phase 2b VANTAGE study for primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). Volixibat has been granted Breakthrough Therapy Designation for the treatment of cholestatic pruritus in patients with PBC. Mirum is also planning for a Phase 2 study evaluating MRM-3379, a PDE4D inhibitor for the treatment of Fragile X syndrome, a rare genetic neurocognitive disorder.

POSITION SUMMARY

Mirum’s summer internship provides each intern an opportunity, over the course of 10-12 weeks, to lead a strategic priority project with exposure across the intersection of drug development and business. Projects will have clear deliverables and multiple opportunities to present with executive management. Mirum fosters a strong, in-person culture, and interns will have a valuable opportunity to learn through day-to-day in-person collaboration, building organic connections, gaining real-time exposure to decision-making, and accelerating learning in a highly engaged environment. Summer interns will receive frequent access to senior leadership, ongoing mentorship from Corporate Development leaders, and hands-on experience working alongside seasoned team members who support Mirum’s drug development and corporate strategy efforts.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Corporate Development
    • Source new opportunities using a variety of tools and databases and secondary research sources
    • Assessment of new in-licensing and acquisition opportunities
    • Update and maintain a business development database to track partnering opportunities
    • Coordinate team diligence efforts including but not limited to scientific and clinical reviews and commercial assessments
    • Assist with structuring potential deal terms, as needed
    • Assist with forecasting, analog analysis, and financial modeling, as needed
    • Development of business case presentations for senior leadership
    • Participate in strategic projects to support corporate development initiatives
    • Work closely with senior Corporate Development leaders to support real-time strategic decision-making across business development initiatives

 QUALIFICATIONS

 Work Opportunity:

  • Immersive, paid summer internship with full integration into the Corporate Development team
  • Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week (40 hrs/wk) internship between May and August
  • Be able to work at the Foster City, California site for the duration of the internship

Education/Experience:

  • Currently enrolled as student in an accredited MBA program or a recent MBA graduate (Class of 2026)
  • Strong scientific acumen and demonstrated interest and/or experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals
  • Scientific or advanced degree in life sciences or related field (M.S., Ph.D., or M.D.) preferred
  • Management consulting, investing and banking background desirable

  • Genuine interest in healthcare and patient focused work
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize critical workstreams across multiple projects
  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial setting

  • Strong analytics and problem-solving skills with ability to build and interpret models, analyze datasets, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations
