The intern will analyze Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIF) and Near Miss SIF data to identify root causes and propose improvement plans, while also supporting Machine Safety Assessments and Industrial Hygiene Qualitative Risk Assessments at various sites. Responsibilities also include developing new Global EHS Procedures and creating global safety communications materials.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Global Environmental Health and Safety Technical Team Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting our continuous improvement mindset in EHS performance. You will contribute to projects focused on environmental, health, and safety initiatives across our operations, with opportunities to make a real impact on employee well-being and sustainable practices.

 

This role offers the opportunity to partner with site leadership and the EHS team on meaningful projects that enhance workplace safety and environmental responsibility while building your own professional skills.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIF) and Near Miss SIF data, identify root causes and areas of opportunity and propose improvement plans.
  • Analyze PSIF data on our top three reporting categories and share learnings with sites.
  • Support Tenneco Machine Safety Assessments process conducting assessments in some US sites and driving proposed solutions for common machine guarding issues.
  • Support sites in the execution of Industrial Hygiene Qualitative Risk Assessments, creating sampling plans and supporting sites in developing exposure reduction plans.
  • Develop and implement new Global EHS Procedures with minimum requirements for all manufacturing sites.
  • Create and share global safety communications and awareness materials for employees

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
  • Office-based with occasional exposure to plant/manufacturing areas
  • May include travel to plant sites (up to 20%).
  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new tools and concepts.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; collaboration in a team setting.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
