Sol Systems is an independent power producer (IPP) committed to building and operating clean energy infrastructure that benefits communities for the long term. We develop, finance, and own solar and storage projects across the United States and partner with utilities, corporations, and local organizations to deliver responsible energy solutions.
Sol Systems is seeking a Marketing & Communications (Marcom) Intern to support the Marcom Team in translating complex clean energy development, financing, and community partnership work into clear and engaging content for a variety of audiences including landowners, customers, investors, community stakeholders, and industry partners. Through this position, the intern will learn how to differentiate a premium brand, leverage a variety of storytelling and content creation methods to make complicated information accessible, and how to connect with a range of customer and partner audiences.
Sol Systems’ Marcom Team supports the company's IPP model throughout the project lifecycle, from development, community engagement, corporate energy procurement, and impact programming. They translate complex infrastructure work into clear, human-centered stories to highlight Sol Systems’ ability to deliver on commitments and engage with communities.
Key responsibilities:
- Draft and design social media content, graphics, and videos for LinkedIn and other platforms
- Assist in developing project storytelling materials including case studies, impact summaries, and community partnership features
- Support production of marketing collateral such as presentations, one-pagers, event materials, and digital campaigns
- Assist with planning and executing internal and external events, announcements, and campaigns
- Support website updates, content organization, and content performance tracking
A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Interest in communications within climate, infrastructure, public interest business, or mission-driven corporate environments
- Experience with Canva, Figma, CapCut, and/or Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with social media content creation (academic, personal, or professional)
- Short-form video editing skills and a basic understanding of branding principles are a plus
- Ability to track social media performance and adapt trends for a corporate audience is a plus
- A major in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Environmental Science/Sustainability, or Public Policy is preferred, but skillsets are more important than degree paths for this role
- This role is open to current rising undergraduate juniors, seniors, and graduate students
Location & Hours: This is a full-time summer internship (30–40 hours per week) based in Washington, D.C. The internship will last approximately 8–10 weeks. Interns will be expected to work in the office three days per week.
Compensation: This is a paid internship, with an hourly rate of $20–$25, commensurate with experience.
