About the Role

Job Summary:

The Web Design Intern will earn hands-on experience in website design, content creation, and brand consistency while assisting with updating and enhancing the company website. 


In addition to the outlined duties and responsibilities, it is expected that the employee upholds a positive work environment and embodies Trellis' mission to cultivate a culture of collaboration, respect, trust, and open communication by assuming best intentions in all interactions, both internally and in service to the residents.


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Complete a comprehensive audit of the current website to identify design, usability, and performance improvement      opportunities.
  • Develop and present strategic recommendations to enhance website functionality, user experience, and overall visual impact.
  • Collaborate with leadership to gather updated content, clarify objectives, and incorporate design feedback.
  • Refresh website content and layout to align with current company branding and messaging. 
  • Optimize website design for full mobile responsiveness and cross-browser capability.
  • Ensure consistent application of brand standards.
  • Perform functionality testing, troubleshoot issues, and recommend enhancements to improve site performance and user engagement.

Training and Comprehension:

  • Fair Housing Law
  • Cyber Awareness Training
  • Other Trellis University Training as assigned.

In addition, the Web Design Intern will perform other reasonable business-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  

  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.
  • Experience working with WordPress.
  • Familiarity with managed hosting platforms such as WP Engine.
  • Basic understanding of APIs and third-party integrations.
  • Previous website development or design experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Basic troubleshooting and testing skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • This internship is designed for candidates pursuing a degree in web design, graphic design, marketing, computer science, or related field. Applicants should be seeking to build a career in the web design or graphic design industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
