About the Role

PS Seasoning is a fast-growing, innovation-driven food company specializing in seasonings, sauces, and meat-focused food product development. Our R&D team works at the intersection of culinary creativity, food science, and manufacturing scale-up — bringing bold ideas from bench-top to production.

We are seeking a motivated Food Science student to join our R&D team for a hands-on, high-impact summer internship.

What You’ll Experience

This is not a shadow-only internship. You will work directly in our lab and pilot environment alongside Food Scientists and Operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in formulation and reformulation of seasoning blends and sauces
  • Conduct bench-top and pilot plant trials
  • Perform analytical testing (Bostwick viscosity, pH, density, moisture, water activity)
  • Support fill studies and processing parameter evaluations
  • Participate in Stage-Gate product development meetings
  • Observe and support first-time production runs
  • Assist with ingredient statement and specification documentation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain

Capstone Project

Each intern will own a defined technical project (e.g., sauce flow optimization, seasoning standardization, cost optimization study, or process improvement initiative).

The internship concludes with a formal presentation of findings to R&D and Operations leadership.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • Junior or Senior standing preferred
  • Strong interest in food formulation and processing
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Basic Excel proficiency
  • No prior industry experience required
