About the Opportunity
Social Media Intern
David Zwirner seeks a highly motivated Social Media Intern at its New York gallery. This role presents a unique opportunity to develop a nuanced understanding of the gallery’s relationships with key art world figures and gain valuable insight into working with social media, all while collaborating closely with the Digital, Design, Content, and Books teams, as well as the core Social team.
Qualified candidates should be highly personable, organized, motivated, and responsible, with an interest in gaining experience in the daily operations of a contemporary art gallery.
What you’ll do:
General social media support across David Zwirner and David Zwirner Books:
- Regularly clean and update shared social media resources to keep consistent information across all gallery touchpoints.
- Research and share insights on David Zwirner’s social media followers.
- Support with reporting and identifying helpful tools integrated within our existing systems (Dash Hudson, Facebook & IG analytics).
- Support with IG management: flagging and saving relevant User Generated Content, approving pending tags, engaging in DMs, liking and commenting on relevant content, etc.
- Opportunities to collaborate with extended marketing departments like Design, Social Media, Digital Marketing, Books, and more, based on interest.
- Engage in sharing inspirational content with the social media team, practice looking at posts online, and evaluating what makes them successful (or not!)
- Maintain a calendar of third-party exhibitions involving gallery artists and related details associated with promotion planning.
- Support the Social Media team with photo and video content creation.
- Support the Social Media Director and Social Media Manager with requests as needed.
Influencer & Event Support
- Update influencer list with relevant information to support the Social Media team in building out a comprehensive and global database of art-interested creators or leaders in the field.
- Assist on-site with press previews, private and public events (including artist and curator talks, exhibition walkthroughs, book signings, cocktail parties, and more) by greeting and checking in guests.
- Support with tracking RSVPs for influencer events.
- Ad hoc projects as needed
What we would like you to have:
- The ability to multitask, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort and familiarity using Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and other social media tools and channels, as well as Google Drive are required.
- Comfort and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Premiere Pro and Photoshop), Figma, and Notion are a plus.
- Curiosity about social media and online trends.
- Openness to engaging in a range of interdisciplinary projects.
This Spring/Summer internship runs from April to the beginning of August. Preferred hours are 10AM – 6PM, 3 days a week, though an exact schedule can be determined with the final candidate. To ensure that our interns have a well-rounded and educational experience, we ask for a commitment of at least 4 months. All interns are paid NYC minimum wage of $17/hour. All candidates must be residents of NY, NJ, or CT. No lodging or commuting expenses will be provided. Only qualified candidates will be contacted. Absolutely no calls or walk-ins, please.
