A&S Backend Engineer

Join our Apps & Solutions Backend Engineering team and help implement the League platform for our customers. As a Backend Engineer Co-op, you’ll gain hands-on experience designing and building production backend services, APIs, and data systems that support real users at scale.

We are an AI-forward engineering organization. We leverage modern AI tools extensively across our development lifecycle, from design and prototyping to coding, testing, documentation, and refactoring. We’re looking for candidates who are not only strong engineers but who actively use AI tools to accelerate learning, improve code quality, and increase impact.

This co-op is your opportunity to sharpen your backend fundamentals while working in a fast-moving, AI-enabled environment where engineering velocity and quality both matter.

What You’ll Work On

  • Designing and building REST and WebSocket APIs
  • Developing scalable backend services in Go
  • Building new products and integrations
  • Writing clean, testable, maintainable production code
  • Participating in code reviews and architectural discussions
  • Improving test automation and system reliability
  • Leveraging AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, documentation, and testing
  • Contributing to technical design and implementation planning

What We’re Looking For

Core Engineering Skills

  • Experience building backend applications (academic, personal, or professional projects)
  • Strong programming fundamentals (data structures, APIs, system design basics)
  • Hands-on coding experience in Go or another backend language
  • Understanding of databases and API design principles
  • Exposure to automated testing practices

AI Tooling & AI-Enabled Development (Strongly Preferred)

  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively prompt, evaluate, and iterate with AI tools
  • Demonstrated use of AI to improve productivity, code quality, debugging, or learning
  • Comfort working in an AI-augmented engineering workflow
  • Curiosity about how AI can improve engineering systems and processes

We strongly prefer candidates who already integrate AI tools into their daily development workflow and can articulate how those tools improve their output.

  • Previous engineering co-op or internship experience
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
  • Experience contributing to team projects

Security-related Responsibilities:
