Overview

US Conec is seeking a research-driven, analytical intern to support a strategic initiative focused on closing internal skills gaps within our tooling and injection molding functions.

This role is designed to help us build a long-term workforce strategy that moves beyond transactional recruiting and toward sustainable talent pipeline development. The intern will research industry best practices, training models, workforce partnerships, and apprenticeship frameworks to help us design scalable solutions.

This is not a traditional HR internship. This role sits at the intersection of manufacturing, workforce development, and talent strategy.

  • Benchmark how comparable manufacturing companies build sustainable talent pipelines
  • Analyze apprenticeship models, technical school partnerships, and certification pathways
  • Evaluate internal upskilling and cross-training program structures
  • Investigate community college, trade school, and workforce board partnerships
  • Assess grant funding or workforce development incentives available at the state and federal level
  • Interview internal stakeholders to identify root causes of hiring and retention challenges
  • Develop a strategic recommendation report outlining potential long-term solutions

Must Haves

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources or similar field
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to synthesize data into actionable recommendations
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Comfort interviewing stakeholders and summarizing findings
  • Interest in manufacturing, skilled trades, or workforce development

What We Offer

  • Competitive internship compensation
  • Mentorship from experienced automation and engineering professionals
  • Exposure to cutting-edge fiber optic manufacturing technologies
  • Access to robotics, vision systems, and CAD tools
  • Opportunities to contribute to impactful projects with real-world applications
  • A collaborative, team-based culture focused on innovation and learning
  • STEM outreach and community engagement initiatives
