Location: Onsite at our Corporate Office in Glendale, AZ
POSITION SUMMARY
Enhances the quality of life for our members/team members by meeting or exceeding their service expectations and building relationships of trust and loyalty. This intern position provides hands-on exposure to both digital and traditional service processes, with an emphasis on accuracy, efficiency, and member-focused service. Under the guidance of experienced team members, the intern assists with basic inquiries, account-related requests, and documentation related to transactions, new accounts, and account maintenance. The intern gains introductory experience supporting digital service channels, reviewing system updates, and helping maintain clear, professional written communications and operations documents. This role delivers standardized information to retail team members while developing foundational knowledge of credit union operations, compliance awareness, and internal support functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Digital Channel Support - Assists with reviewing and processing basic electronic transactions, such as remote and ATM deposits, under the guidance of experienced team members. Learn how to accurately handle documents and transactions while following established procedures and role limitations. Support simple account updates and corrections as directed and performs document scanning, imaging, and indexing to help maintain accurate records. Review system update information and share questions or observations with their manager while assisting with coordination efforts during system updates and testing activities.
• Transaction and Legal Administrative Support - Provides items related to legal documentation, including levies, garnishments, and subpoenas, under supervision. Learn basic compliance and documentation requirements while assisting with the processing of returned mail and updating member account information as instructed. Assists with handling daily member and third-party requests, developing strong attention to detail and time-management skills.
• Retail Operations Support - Develops knowledge about Credit Union West products, systems, and services to assist team members with basic questions. Provide professional and friendly internal support through phone, email, and messaging channels with guidance from colleagues and the manager. Assists with updating procedures, job aids, and reference materials as directed and participates in system testing, release updates, and special projects to gain exposure to operational processes. Gather information for reports and communicate observations or questions related to workflows, system functionality, or process improvement opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
PROGRAM AND STRUCTURE
• Orientation - All interns will participate in an orientation session, which will cover the Credit Union’s history, values, policies and work expectations. Interns will be introduced to their department and team members.
• Mentorship - Each intern will be paired with a mentor or supervisor who will guide them through the internship, providing support, feedback and career development advice.
• Projects and Tasks - Interns will be assigned specific projects, tasks, and responsibilities based on business needs and when possible, aligned with their academic studies and career goals.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Able to communicate effectively and tactfully with employees both orally and in writing. Demonstrate critical thinking and being self-reliant to better analyze and solve problems.
