About the job

Reporting to the Director of Cleantech Markets, the Cleantech Engineering Intern will play a key role in advancing our cleantech business development initiatives by conducting research, creating technical content, and engaging with cross-functional teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in sustainability solutions and contribute to our mission of helping customers achieve their sustainability goals. 

This role is based in Houston, TX

As part of the team, you will: 

  • Conduct research to understand the identified cleantech market drivers, trends, potential, customers and policies.

  • Develop technical market and application-based content that effectively communicates our sustainability story and product value.

  • Support ad hoc projects across the team, contributing insights, analysis, and problem-solving.

  • Learn and follow established sales processes, gaining hands-on experience with how Alfa Laval promotes and sells its products and services.

  • Develop the ability to identify customer needs by learning how to investigate and determine the correct  products for each inquiry.

  • Support in reviewing customer requirements and learning how to select and size equipment using Alfa Laval’s software tools. Contribute to preparing proposal packages, including technical information, pricing details, and basic equipment documentation. 

  • Explore upselling opportunities by learning how to recognize additional products or services that may benefit the customer.

  • Engage with customers under guidance, helping ensure they understand the value of the proposed solution and that it aligns with their needs.

What you know: 

You are a rising college senior pursuing a degree in Chemical or Mechanical, Engineering, with a strong interest in sustainability driven by advanced process technology, and you bring:

  • A curious, collaborative, and proactive mindset with a desire to learn and take on new challenges.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Basic technical understanding of heat transfer

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location. The hourly rate for this role is $25 USD per hour.
