The Opportunity 

South Bow is seeking a Law Student (Summer – Canada) to join its Canadian Legal team for a four-month work term from May to August 2026, based in Calgary, Alberta. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a law student currently enrolled at a Canadian law school to gain hands-on, in-house legal experience supporting South Bow and our many client groups.

Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Corporate & Corporate Secretary, the Law Student will assist with a broad range of legal matters, including commercial, regulatory, land, procurement, corporate, securities and compliance work. The successful candidate will undertake legal research, analysis, and writing, and have significant opportunity for internal client engagement working closely with lawyers and business stakeholders across the organization.

  • The targeted start date for this work experience opportunity is May 2026.

  • This is a four-month (May–August) summer student opportunity.

  • Role is based in Calgary, Alberta.

What you'll do

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and summaries on issues relating to commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, land and surface rights, procurement, corporate governance and securities law

  • Assist with the review, drafting and organization of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, policies and internal guidance materials

  • Support lawyers in responding to internal business inquiries and coordinating with internal clients across multiple functions

  • Assist with due diligence, document management and data organization for transactions and regulatory filings

  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to South Bow’s Canadian operations and prepare briefing materials as required

  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with legal and business colleagues on ongoing matters

  • Provide general administrative and project support to the Canadian Legal team, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of at least one year of law school prior to the start of the work term

  • Currently enrolled in a Canadian law school (JD program)

  • Returning to law school for at least one academic term following the completion of the summer work term

  • Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work independently

  • Eligibility to work in Canada for the duration of the work term  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in or exposure to in-house legal practice, energy, infrastructure or regulated industries

  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort engaging with internal business stakeholders

  • Attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach 

 This position requires candidates to: 

  • Successfully complete pre-employment Criminal background checks
