Business Intelligence Intern

ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC is currently accepting applications for a full-time, remote Business Intelligence Intern.

Our Internship Program offers students the opportunity to work on meaningful projects and make a real impact on departmental and corporate objectives as they prepare to launch their careers. Internships typically begin in mid-May and run through mid-August and may be part-time or full-time depending on business needs.

We are seeking ambitious students who are currently enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university, or recent graduates. Our goal is to create a thoughtful, challenging experience that helps interns grow professionally while contributing to the success of the business.

What will I do as a Business Intelligence Intern?

As a Business Intelligence Intern, you will support the organization’s data and analytics initiatives by helping transform raw data into actionable insights. A typical day may include building or enhancing dashboards, writing SQL queries, reviewing cloud configurations, validating data accuracy, and analyzing performance metrics across various business functions. You will gain hands-on experience working with reporting tools and datasets while contributing to projects that improve visibility into key performance indicators and support data-driven decision-making.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist with developing, maintaining, and optimizing dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Power BI).
• Write and refine SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources.
• Support data validation, cleansing, and documentation of reporting logic and KPI definitions.
• Analyze trends and performance metrics to identify insights and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand reporting needs and deliver accurate, timely analytics. 

Skills/Qualifications:

• Foundational understanding of SQL and data analysis concepts.
• Familiarity with Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data manipulation) and exposure to BI tools such as Power BI is preferred.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to interpret data trends.
• Student must be entering sophomore year or higher by the start of the internship
• Currently enrolled at an accredited college/university pursuing a degree related to the internship.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and navigate various software systems.
• Effective communication skills and comfort working with multiple levels of the organization.
• Positive, proactive, “can-do” attitude.
