IT Infrastructure Intern

ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC is currently accepting applications for a full-time, remote Infrastructure Intern.

Our Internship Program offers students the opportunity to work on meaningful projects and make a real impact on departmental and corporate objectives as they prepare to launch their careers. Internships typically begin in mid-May and run through mid-August and may be part-time or full-time depending on business needs.

We are seeking ambitious students who are currently enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university, or recent graduates. Our goal is to create a thoughtful, challenging experience that helps interns grow professionally while contributing to the success of the business.

What will I do as an Infrastructure Intern?

As an Infrastructure Intern, you will support the design, maintenance, and optimization of our cloud infrastructure environments. Additionally, you will assist in Cybersecurity optimization and monitoring. A typical day may include assisting with cloud resource management, monitoring system performance, supporting automation initiatives, and helping maintain system reliability across enterprise platforms. You will gain hands-on exposure to cloud services, infrastructure operations, and system scalability/security while contributing to projects that enhance performance, availability, and operational efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with provisioning, configuring, and monitoring cloud resources (e.g., compute, storage, networking).
• Support infrastructure monitoring and performance optimization across cloud environments.
• Help maintain identity and access management configurations within cloud platforms.
• Contribute to infrastructure documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
• Support basic security best practices such as patching, access reviews, and system hardening.
• Assist in security alert investigations.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Foundational understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and core infrastructure concepts (virtual machines, networking, storage).
• Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows/Linux) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS).
• Exposure to scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash) or Infrastructure-as-Code concepts (e.g., Terraform) is a plus.
• Student must be entering sophomore year or higher by the start of the internship.
• Currently enrolled at an accredited college/university pursuing a degree related to the internship.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and navigate various software systems.
• Effective communication skills and comfort working with multiple levels of the organization.
• Positive, proactive, “can-do” attitude.
