Upbound Group Summer 2026 Internship – UX Design Intern

Summer Intern Program
Upbound Group’s 2026 Summer Intern Program offers an immersive professional development experience that goes beyond traditional internships, providing participants with a comprehensive opportunity to grow both personally and professionally through dynamic networking events, engaging volunteer activities, and exclusive executive leadership speaker sessions. Interns can anticipate a robust learning environment that balances structured training modules with self-paced learning pathways, enabling them to explore their potential, develop critical skills, and gain meaningful insights into corporate culture.
Program Dates
The ten-week program will run from June 1 through August 7, 2026, and is an in-office experience at our company headquarters in Plano, TX.
The Role
As a UX Design Intern at Acima, you will collaborate closely with the Product Management team to help design, build, and launch innovative solutions in the lease-to-own space. This hands-on internship will offer exposure to a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you’ll gain experience in UX design, UX research, product strategy, development, and execution.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Learn and apply UX design best practices while contributing to real product work
Participate in the full design process—from understanding problems and user needs to designing, testing, and refining solutions
Review customer research, interviews, usability testing, and data to identify user needs, behaviors, and pain points
Approach design problems with a customer-first mindset, always looking for opportunities to improve the user experience
Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand business needs, technical constraints, and different perspectives
Create quick design concepts and prototypes to explore ideas and gather feedback early
Share work with the design team through design reviews, critiques, and group discussions
Learn how design work is documented and communicated to engineering and product partners
Gain exposure to how designs move from concept to build by working alongside engineers
Ask questions, seek feedback, and grow design skills through mentorship and collaboration
In addition to your daily responsibilities, as an intern at Acima, you will also participate in:
Professional Development Workshops focused on growing your product management and leadership skills.
Cross-Departmental Networking with teams such as product management, engineering, and marketing.
Mentorship Opportunities to receive personalized guidance and career development from experienced UX designers.
Corporate Events and Initiatives, including team-building activities and volunteer opportunities.
Compensation
Summer Interns at Upbound Group are paid hourly in accordance with usual payroll procedures.
$22.00 per hour
