Overview:

Pembina Pipeline’s Oilsands Drayton Valley office is actively hiring a General Labour Summer Student to join the team.  The Summer Student reports to the South Area Foreman and will provide valuable hands-on experience in a safety focused environment and exposure to pipeline operations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop practical skills, gain industry knowledge, and contribute to Pembina’s commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient operations throughout the duration of the work term. 

 

The mamawi district, part of Pembina’s OBU Operations include a strategically positioned network of pipelines and related infrastructure, encompassing various hubs and terminals. This network facilitates the transportation of crude oil, condensate, and natural gas liquids across significant areas of Alberta, as well as parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and North Dakota.

Note: This position is a 4-month term.

 

Work schedule, Monday to Friday – 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

 

The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Drayton Valley.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Assisting with operations activities and projects as required, general maintenance and painting, housekeeping at Lease Automatic Custody Transfer (LACT) sites, cutting grass and weed removal;
  • Support day‑to‑day work and learning activities related to the team or function, using tools such as (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Office, Copilot/ChatGPT, and other applicable systems);
  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of “Zero by Choice” by caring for yourself and others and following Pembina’s Life Saving Rules at all times;
  • Demonstrate Pembina’s values by working in a manner that is Safe, Trustworthy, Respectful, Collaborative, and Entrepreneurial, recognizing that how results are achieved matters; and
  • Contribute to an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace by being gracious, kind, respectful, and working effectively with others.

Qualifications:

  • Capability for moderate physical work;
  • Experience or interest in the energy sector, along with proficiency in operating equipment like forklifts, bobcats, or small manual tools such as weed trimmers, is regarded as beneficial;
  • Field of study aligned with, or providing relevant transferable skills for, the role applied for;
  • Self-Motivated, reliable, and friendly style with strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to safety and Pembina’s values;
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driver abstract;  
  • Field of study aligned with, or providing relevant transferable skills for, the role applied for;
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the term and required schedule Must be available to work the entire term (May to August 2026); and
  • Motivated, reliable, and friendly style with strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to safety and Pembina’s values.

 

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and requires Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites.

You will also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
