About the Role

Role Overview

The Development Intern supports Townline’s Development Team across multiple projects and asset classes, gaining exposure to the full real estate development lifecycle — from site acquisition and approvals through to sales and construction completion. This role offers hands-on experience working with Development Coordinators, Managers, Analysts, and Senior Leadership in a collaborative, in-house development environment. This role has the potential to extend to December 2026 depending on candidate availability.

 

Key Responsibilities

Development Support

  • Assist the Development Team across active projects at various stages of the development process
  • Support Development Coordinators, Managers, Analysts, and Senior Leadership with day-to-day development tasks

 

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with internal Marketing and Construction teams
  • Assist with managing architectural and engineering consultants
  • Maintain up-to-date project files and documentation

 

Financial & Analytical Support

  • Assist with the review and preparation of development pro formas and project budgets
  • Conduct research on local policy changes, market trends, and development-related topics
  • Support and/or lead research initiatives with senior analysts

 

Contracts & Documentation

  • Assist with reviewing legal agreements, disclosure statements, purchase and sale agreements, and addenda
  • Support contract reviews and requests for proposals

 

Administrative & Process Support

  • Attend weekly meetings with Development Managers and provide task updates
  • Assist with departmental process improvements and document updates
  • Perform general administrative support as required

 

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Urban Land Economics, Architecture, Finance, Engineering, Interior Design, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Interest in real estate development

 

Preferred

 

  • Previous internship, co‑op, or summer experience in real estate development, construction, planning, finance, or a related field 
  • Coursework or exposure to real estate development, urban planning, finance, or project management 
  • Familiarity with development-related concepts such as pro formas, feasibility analysis, budgets, or approvals processes 
  • Experience conducting market, policy, or site research and summarizing findings clearly 
  • Comfort reviewing and organizing contracts, consultant materials, or project documentation 
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in real estate development or a related discipline 
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
