About The Company
Who are we? ASML is an innovation leader in the global semiconductor industry. We make machines that chipmakers use to mass produce microchips. Founded in 1984 in the Netherlands with just a handful of employees, we’ve now grown to over 40,000 employees, 143 nationalities and more than 60 locations around the world. What do we do? We provide chipmakers with hardware, software and services to mass produce patterns on silicon through lithography. Our lithography systems use ultraviolet light to create billions of tiny structures on silicon that together make up a microchip. We push our technology to new limits to enable our customers to create smaller, faster and more powerful chips. Who are our people? While you may think that only engineers and mathematicians work at ASML, you'll be surprised to find out that our people come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Across ASML, we have dedicated teams that manage customer support, communications and media, IT, software development and more. Every team in the company is essential for pushing our technology and the industry forward. If you love to tackle challenges and innovate in a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment with all the flexibility and freedom to unleash your full potential, ASML is the place to be. About the Role

Introduction

Business Line Applications at ASML helps customers get more from lithography by improving every step of patterning. The Product Alignment team in Veldhoven builds solutions that keep wafer placement precise from bare wafer to finished chips. In this internship, you create a robust data pipeline for alignment measurements. Your work makes data easier to store, query, and reuse, accelerating insights for engineers. You will collaborate with specialists who turn data into better scanner performance.

Your assignment

You will design and implement the backbone for alignment measurement data. You will set up a structured SQL database, automate ingestion, and capture practical use cases. In this internship, you also document a clear way of working and deliver training so others can contribute. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Collect and structure wafer alignment measurement data with clear metadata.
  • Design and build a normalized SQL database for scalable storage and retrieval.
  • Develop and test Python or MATLAB scripts to automate data ingestion and validation.
  • Create example use cases and sample queries that demonstrate how to use the data.
  • Analyze datasets to verify quality and derive basic trends or sanity checks.
  • Document the process, standards, and handover materials for easy onboarding.
  • Run a training session and support colleagues adopting the database.

This is a bachelor or masters internship for minimum 6 months, minimum 5 days per week (2-3 days on-site). The start date of this internship is as of September 2026 but it is possible to start earlier.

    Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

    • Are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science and engineering, data science, or information technology.
    • Have programming experience in Python or MATLAB and understand SQL and basic database design.
    • Show a basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing or are eager to learn it quickly.
    • Work in a collaborative, proactive, and analytical way, with clear communication and sound organization.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
