About the Role

FMNE Insurance is seeking a Claims Adjuster Intern in our North Platte District Office This is a paid internship for the summer of 2026, offering hands-on, real-world experience within the insurance industry. Interns will help with underwriting inspections, claims reporting, and communications with agents and adjusters. This employer will not sponsor any work visas for any applicant of this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Please supply a cover letter and resume. Role Overview of an Claims Adjuster Intern:  

A Claims Intern is responsible for but not limited to working towards fulfillment of the Company’s goal to provide prompt, fair, and quality claims service.  This role serves as a liaison between the Home Office and the agency force in the adjustment of assigned claims, inspections, and preparation of underwriting reports. This role performs their duties under supervisory guidance and review. 

Responsibilities of an Claims Adjuster Intern:

  • Demonstrates the Company’s mission, while successfully performing its core values related to integrity, service, excellence, stability, strength, respect, and teamwork.
  • Assist with handling assigned losses of limited variety and conducting underwriting inspections, prepare and submit detailed reports to the appropriate department.
  • Communicate with producing agents as necessary, keeping agents informed of claims handling issues and underwriting inspections for their clients. Assist in keeping agents informed of company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with completed construction property inspections.
  • Assist in claims adjusting and clerical duties as directed.
  • Regular and timely attendance in the office is an essential function of the position.

Skills and Qualifications of an Claims Adjuster Intern:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • General knowledge or aptitude in construction, agri-business, and/or automobile repair is preferred.
  • Completion of insurance-related courses is helpful.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with agents, insureds, and claimants via written correspondence, email, phone, and in person.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating strong initiative and awareness of the importance of timely completion of all responsibilities and job functions.
  • Proficient in using a personal computer, including familiarity with standard business software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain confidential information with professionalism and discretion is required. 
  • Ability to work under varied conditions including indoor/outdoor environments, temperature extremes, uneven or slippery surfaces, and possible exposure to pollutants and irritants.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 40 pounds, bend, stoop, crawl, climb ladders, and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods and conduct thorough visual inspections of insured property.
